WISCONSIN STANDARDS FOR SOCIAL STUDIES
The Wisconsin Social Studies Standards were new in 2018 and break down into several strands based on category.

8th Grade "Power Standards"
The standards listed below are what we focus on most. They tend to be overarching skills that apply across almost any and every historical era or theme we encounter in class.
Inquiry
SS. Inq 1. Construct meaningful questions that initiate an inquiry.
SS. Inq 3. Develop claims using evidence to support reasoning.
SS. Inq 4. Communicate and critique conclusions.
History
SS Hist 1. Use historical evidence for determining cause and effect.
SS Hist 3. Connect past events, people, and ideas to the present, use different perspectives to draw conclusions, and suggest current implications.
SS Hist 4. Evaluate a variety of primary and secondary sources to interpret the historical context, intended audience, purpose, and/or author’s point of view (Historical Methodology).
